'I would love to work in Pakistan'

In a media interview, prominent Iranian director Majid Majidi has expressed a desire to make a film in Iran neighboring country Pakistan.

In the recent interview with the Pakistani magazine The Express Tribune, Majidi said that “Pakistan is one of my beloved countries,” adding, “I love Lahore and Iqbal is one of my beloved poets. I would love to work in Pakistan.”

He also revealed that he has not seen any Pakistani films, however noting that “there are many similarities between our countries.”

Majid Majidi's new feature film ‘Beyond the Clouds’ is an India-set story filmed in the slums of Mumbai.

The melodrama is a tale of a wild kid who deals drugs . When on the run from the cops , Amir finds his estranged sister Tara, who in a bid to protect her brother lands up in jail. Their entire lives have been clouded by despair as unexpectedly the light shines on them from 'Beyond the Clouds.'

Majidi began making short films in the 1980s and was nominated for his film, ‘Children of Heaven’, in the Best Foreign Language Film at Oscars.

Born in 1959, Majidi is an internationally appreciated film producer, director and screenwriter.

He has also directed movie ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’ (2015) which enjoys domestic and international cast and crew. The religious biopic was well-received across the world.
